 Central Coastal Board

The Central Coastal Board is an independent Board responsible to the Minister for Environment. Regional Coastal Boards facilitate the implementation of the Victorian Coastal Strategy and undertake regional strategic planning, working cooperatively with all stakeholders.

Jurisdiction Role/Responsibility Legislation Policies/Programs
Coastal land and water to the 3 nautical mile limit of State jurisdiction in the Board's region of responsibility in Victoria. · Develop Coastal Action Plans (regional or sub regional planning)
· Provide advice to the Minister and the Victorian Coastal Council on coastal development and other matters
· Prepare guidelines for coastal planning and management
· Facilitate implementation of the Victorian Coastal Strategy, Coastal Action Plans and Guidelines
· Facilitate public awareness and consultation in coastal planning
· Liaise with and encourage the co-operation of agencies, industry, community groups and persons and bodies involved in the planning and management of the region in developing and implementing strategic solutions to coastal conservation and use issues
