Regional Marine Plans
are documents which set out information management goals and tools for
a particular Commonwealth marine area.They were introduced by the Oceans
Policy 1998 and are implemented by the National Oceans Office. The South
East Regional Marine Plan covers all commonwealth waters (3 - 200 nautical
miles) off Victoria.

High
Seas - Waters beyond 200 nautical miles from Australia's coast.
High Seas is the term commonly used for international waters (outside
the 200 nautical mile Australian Fishing Zone).
The Australian
Fisheries Management Authority has responsibility for ensuring that
conservation and management measures by Australian operators in the AFZ
and beyond the AFZ (on the high seas) implement Australia's obligations
under international agreements that deal with fish stocks.
