An increasing
number of Victorians, and visitors to Victoria, wish to experience
and interact with the coastal environment and many coastal communities
look to nature based recreation for their economic future.
The pursuit
of recreation and leisure activities has a significant impact on
the coast and marine waters of Victoria. The challenge for the coastal
environment is managing recreational activities in a sustainable
and responsible manner ensuring the impact of activities do not
compromise the coast and coastal waters cultural, heritage and environmental
values, and that diverse and quality
opportunities remain and are enhanced for the future.
It is important that Victorians and visitors continue to use and
enjoy public land for recreation and tourism in a sustainable and
responsible manner to ensure that what we enjoy today remains for
future generations.
